1990 Pro Set #61 Ian Wright MGC 8
This Ian Wright card is number 61 from the 1990 Pro Set collection. The card has been graded MGC 8 Near Mint/Mint by Majesty Grading Company.
The card was issued during a memorable period for Wright at Crystal Palace. The 1989-90 season saw him come off the bench in the FA Cup final against Manchester United and score twice in a dramatic 3-3 draw, announcing himself on the national stage. Palace would finish third in the First Division the following season, their highest ever league finish, with Wright scoring 25 goals.
Born in Woolwich, London on 3 November 1963, Wright was a late starter in professional football. He was working as a plasterer when Crystal Palace signed him at the age of 21 after he was spotted playing non league football. He scored 117 goals for Palace before joining Arsenal in September 1991 for a club record £2.5 million, where he scored 185 goals and became the club’s all time leading scorer, a record since surpassed by Thierry Henry.
