1997 Merlin Premier Gold #100 Andy Cole MGC 10
This Andy Cole card is number 100 from the 1997 Merlin Premier Gold series. The card has been graded MGC 10, the highest grade on the scale.
The 1997 Merlin Premier Gold set covers the 1996–97 season, in which Manchester United won the Premier League title. Cole was in his second full season at Old Trafford, having joined from Newcastle United in January 1995 for a then British record fee of £7 million. After a difficult first 18 months in which he faced heavy criticism, Cole had established himself as a key part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.
Born in Nottingham on 15 October 1971, Cole began his career at Arsenal before spells at Bristol City and Newcastle United, where he scored 68 goals in 84 appearances. At Manchester United he won nine major trophies across six seasons, including the unprecedented treble of Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League in 1999. He remains one of the most prolific strikers in the history of English football.
