The card was issued during Ronaldo’s debut season at Manchester United. He signed for United from Sporting Lisbon in August 2003 for £12.24 million at the age of 18, inheriting the iconic number 7 shirt previously worn by George Best, Eric Cantona and David Beckham.
Born in Funchal, Madeira on 5 February 1985, Ronaldo made 292 appearances for Manchester United, winning three Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2008. He joined Real Madrid in 2009 for a then world record £80 million, where he became the club’s all time leading goalscorer with 450 goals in 438 appearances.
He is the all time leading goalscorer in men’s international football and in Champions League history.
