The 1991 Pro Set was the second series of English football cards produced by the American manufacturer Pro Set. The set consisted of two parts totalling over 500 cards across all four divisions.

Southall was in his 11th season at Everton when this card was issued. By 1991-92, the glory years of the mid 1980s were behind the club, but Southall remained a commanding presence in goal and one of the most consistent performers in the First Division.

The 1991-92 campaign was a difficult one for Everton under Howard Kendall’s second spell as manager, with the club finishing 12th in the First Division. Southall continued to add to his Wales caps total, which would eventually reach a then national record of 92.
