1991 Pro Set #65 Clayton Blackmore MGC 8
This Clayton Blackmore card is number 65 from the 1991 Pro Set English Football collection, Part 1, covering the 1991-92 First Division season.
The 1991 Pro Set was the second series of English football cards produced by the American manufacturer Pro Set. The set consisted of two parts totalling over 500 cards across all four divisions.
Blackmore was in his seventh season as a first team squad member at Manchester United when this card was issued. The Welsh international had established himself as one of the most versatile players at the club, capable of playing across the defence and midfield. He had been part of the side that won the FA Cup in 1990 and the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1991.
The 1991-92 season saw Blackmore make 33 league appearances as United finished second to Leeds in the title race. The arrival of Paul Parker from Queens Park Rangers had shifted the competition for places, but Blackmore’s adaptability continued to make him a valuable member of Alex Ferguson’s squad. He remained at Old Trafford long enough to collect a Premier League winners’ medal in 1992-93.
