1990 Panini FIFA World Cup #394 Paul Gascoigne MGC 7
This Paul Gascoigne card is number 394 from the 1990 Panini FIFA World Cup Italia ’90 collection. The card has been graded MGC 7 Near Mint by Majesty Grading Company.
The card was issued for the tournament that made Gascoigne a global star. At just 23, he was the driving force behind England’s run to the semi-finals, their best World Cup performance since 1966. His tears after receiving a yellow card in the semi-final against West Germany, which would have ruled him out of the final, became one of the most iconic images in football history.
At the time of issue, Gascoigne was playing for Tottenham Hotspur, having joined from Newcastle United in 1988 for £2.2 million.
Born in Gateshead on 27 May 1967, Gascoigne won 57 England caps and scored 10 goals. He won the FA Cup with Tottenham in 1991 and two league titles with Rangers. He was named BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1990 and finished fourth in the Ballon d’Or the same year.
