The 1992 Pro Set was the second series of English football cards produced by the American manufacturer Pro Set. The set consisted of two parts totalling over 500 cards across all four divisions.
Hughes was in his fourth season back at Manchester United after returning from Barcelona in 1988. The previous season had seen him score both goals in the European Cup Winners’ Cup final and win the PFA Players’ Player of the Year for the second time.
The 1991-92 campaign saw United win the League Cup, beating Nottingham Forest in the final. The club also finished second in the First Division behind Leeds United in the last season before the formation of the Premier League.
