1992 Pro Set #235 Alan Smith MGC 10
This Alan Smith card is number 235 from the 1992 Pro Set series. The card has been graded MGC 10 by Majesty Grading Company, the highest grade on the scale.
The card was issued during the 1991–92 season, in which Arsenal were defending their First Division title. Ian Wright had arrived from Crystal Palace for a club record fee in September 1991, and Smith adapted his game to become more of a provider alongside the prolific new signing. Smith had been Arsenal’s top scorer for four consecutive seasons prior to Wright’s arrival.
Born in Birmingham on 21 November 1962, Smith joined Leicester City in 1982 and formed an early striking partnership with Gary Lineker before signing for Arsenal in March 1987. He scored the opening goal in the famous title deciding victory at Anfield in May 1989 and went on to win every major domestic honour with the club. His volley against Parma in the 1994 Cup Winners’ Cup final remains one of Arsenal’s most iconic European moments. He scored 115 goals for the club in total.
