Shearer won the PFA award for the second time at the end of the 1996-97 campaign, his first season at Newcastle following his world record £15 million move from Blackburn Rovers. He scored 25 Premier League goals to win the Golden Boot, proving himself as the most prolific striker in the country despite Newcastle finishing as runners up to Manchester United.
The award recognised Shearer as the outstanding player in the division as voted by his fellow professionals, cementing his status as the leading centre forward of his generation. He remains one of only a handful of players to have won the PFA award at two different clubs.
This is the highest graded example of this card by PSA, making it the top population copy.
