This is an uncut four player card from the 1980-81 Daily Star Football collection, featuring Swansea City players Jeremy Charles, Tommy Craig, John Mahoney and Leighton Phillips.

The Daily Star Football set was a newspaper promotional issue distributed through the Daily Star in 1981. The cards feature individual player portraits designed to be separated, making surviving uncut quad cards scarcer than individual singles.

This card captures four key members of the Swansea City squad during one of the most remarkable seasons in Welsh football history. Under manager John Toshack, Swansea won promotion to the First Division in May 1981, completing an extraordinary rise from the Fourth Division to the top flight in just four seasons. Between them, Charles, Mahoney and Phillips represented Wales at international level, while Craig brought Scottish international experience to the midfield.

The 1980-81 promotion squad included 16 Welshmen, many of them local players, and remains one of the most celebrated groups in the club’s history. The season culminated in a 3-1 win at Preston North End on 2 May 1981, with Jeremy Charles scoring the third goal to send the travelling supporters into delirium.
