The card was issued just two years after Brooking made his first team debut for West Ham United on 29 August 1967. This is an early career card of a player who would go on to become one of West Ham’s greatest ever.
Born in Barking on 2 October 1948, Brooking signed for West Ham in July 1965 and spent his entire career at the club. He made 647 appearances and scored 102 goals between 1967 and 1984, winning the FA Cup twice. His headed winner in the 1980 final remains one of the most celebrated goals in West Ham’s history.
He won 47 England caps and was knighted in 2004 for services to football.
