The 1992 Pro Set was the second series of English football cards produced by the American manufacturer Pro Set. The set consisted of two parts totalling over 500 cards across all four divisions.
Speed was in his fourth season at Leeds United when this card was issued. The 1991-92 campaign saw Leeds win the First Division title, the last before the formation of the Premier League. Speed played 41 of a possible 42 league games and scored seven goals, earning him the club’s player of the season award from manager Howard Wilkinson.
The midfield of Speed, Gordon Strachan, Gary McAllister and David Batty was considered by former Leeds manager Eddie Gray to be one of the greatest midfield line ups in the modern era.
