This is an uncut four player card from the 1980-81 Daily Star Football collection, featuring Swansea City players David Giles, Nigel Stevenson, John Toshack and Alan Waddle.

The Daily Star Football set was a newspaper promotional issue distributed through the Daily Star in 1981. The cards feature individual player portraits designed to be separated, making surviving uncut quad cards scarcer than individual singles.

This card captures four members of the Swansea City squad during one of the most extraordinary seasons in Welsh football history. Under player-manager John Toshack, Swansea completed their promotion to the First Division in May 1981, reaching the top flight for the first time in 69 years of existence. The achievement completed a remarkable rise from the Fourth Division in just four seasons.

Toshack is the central figure on this card, the man who arrived at the Vetch Field in 1978 and transformed the club’s fortunes through a combination of tactical intelligence, shrewd signings and sheer force of personality. Alongside him, Waddle provided the goals from the forward line, Giles offered Welsh international quality in attack, and Stevenson was a homegrown product who represented the local identity of the squad.
