1965 Barratt Famous Footballers #31 Ron Harris MGC 7
This Ron Harris card is number 31 from the 1965 Barratt Famous Footballers series. The card has been graded MGC 7 Near Mint by Majesty Grading Company.
The card was issued early in Harris’s Chelsea career. He had made his senior debut in February 1962 at the age of 17 and was already a first team regular. The 1964-65 season saw Chelsea win the League Cup and challenge for the First Division title, ultimately finishing third.
Born in Hackney, London on 13 November 1944, Harris joined Chelsea as a 15 year old and signed professional terms in August 1960. He went on to make a club record 795 appearances across 18 seasons, captaining the side to FA Cup glory in 1970 and the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1971.
Known as “Chopper” for his tough tackling, Harris remarkably never received a red card during his career.
